Lion’s Head

A hike cherished by Cape Town locals - Lion’s Head is unforgettably beautiful. Popular with photographers due to its undisturbed and changing panoramic views of Table Mountain, the Atlantic Ocean and the rolling topography of the Table Mountain National Park. We recommend summiting for photographs at sunrise or sunset for the best light.

It is a great option for those who are looking for a less challenging climb than Table Mountain itself. The route consists of a slowly ascending wide and flat trail that contours and corkscrews its way up the mountain. For the final ascent to the peak, you can expect a bit of scrambling and a short exposure to heights that our guides will happily assist you with completing safely. Once you reach the summit, there are plenty of amazing photographic opportunities with flat, easy footing and places to enjoy your pre-packed snacks. There is no cable-car on this peak but the total round trip can be done within a half day excursion.
