Kasteelspoort

This route ascends from the western side of Table Mountain with fantastic views over the Atlantic Ocean, the mountain itself and the peninsula. It also offers early morning shade and a more off the beaten track feel. The trail’s approach is less direct and it doesn’t feel like a constant slog. At the top of Kasteelspoort are the remnants of an old steam cable car used for the construction of the dams on top of the mountain. It has beautiful views over the Atlantic and has gained popularity in recent times by virtue of the photo opportunity the Diving Board offers.

From there the trial slowly works its way over towards the back of the western table through the Valley of the Red Gods and the Valley of Isolation. We finish at the Upper Cableway Station for the easy ride down to Tafelberg Road.
